Meet Mark Wright

Mark Wright is a trusted conservative leader who has honorably served Louisiana as the District 77 State Representative since 2017. Today, as Chairman of the House Republican Delegation and previously as Chairman of the House Transportation Committee, Mark has earned a reputation for results-driven leadership that is powering Louisiana’s future through tax relief, job creation, and critical infrastructure investments.

In the Legislature, Mark has worked to cut taxes to make Louisiana competitive again, create jobs so families don't have to leave our state, give families more choices in education, and secure funding for the roads, bridges, and infrastructure projects that keep communities connected and commerce moving. His leadership has earned him recognition as a Most Valuable Policymaker by the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry, a 100% Pro-Life Career Record from Louisiana Right to Life, a Family Advocate by Louisiana Family Forum, the American Conservative Union's Achievement Award and Legislator of the Year for the Alliance for Good Government.

Mark’s conservative record began before the State House, during his service as a Covington City Councilman. There, he helped pass six balanced budgets that fully funded core services without raising taxes — ever. He also served on the St. Tammany Inspector General Task Force, where he stood up to public corruption and championed government transparency.

Professionally, Mark’s career has kept him at the heart of Louisiana’s economy. As Vice President of The American Waterways Operators, Mark managed the Southern Region, partnering with the Coast Guard and industry leaders to ensure safe and efficient operations on the Mississippi River and Gulf Intracoastal Waterway. He also served on the Lower Mississippi Waterway Safety Advisory Committee, the Louisiana Supply Chain Transportation Council, and co-chaired the Mid-America Regional Quality Steering Committee.

As Vice President of the American Arbitration Association, Mark managed Louisiana’s post-Katrina mediation program, successfully overseeing more than 17,000 mediations between devastated homeowners and insurance companies.

Deeply engaged in his community, Mark has served as President of the River Forest Civic Association, Treasurer of the Covington Rotary Club, and as an Advisory Board Member of the St. Tammany West Chamber of Commerce. He has also chaired the St. Tammany Republican Parish Executive Committee and led the Northshore Republican Men’s Club.

A devoted husband and father of five, Mark and his wife are raising their family in Covington, where they moved prior to Hurricane Katrina and where they are active members of St. Peter Catholic Church. Mark has been a lector, member of the Knights of Columbus, and proud advocate for faith, family and service.

Raised in Metairie by Clifford and Jane Wright, Mark learned from his parents the importance of being involved in his community. Mark attended St. Benilde, where his father was a Deacon for over 40 years before passing away recently, and Archbishop Rummel High School.

After attending Louisiana State University, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity, Mark graduated from Xavier University, earned his MBA from the University of Dallas, and studied strategy and international business in the doctoral program at the University of South Alabama.

Now, as a candidate for Louisiana Public Service Commissioner for District 1 — which covers both the Northshore, where he and his family live, and the Southshore, where he grew up — Mark is ready to bring his proven conservative leadership to the Commission. He will fight for reliable, affordable energy, modernized infrastructure, and smart policies that ensure Louisiana families and businesses have the power they need to thrive.

Mark Wright has the experience, the record, and the vision to Power Louisiana’s Future as Public Service Commissioner.
