Jobs and Economic Development
Professionally, Mark’s career has kept him at the heart of Louisiana’s economy. As Vice President of The American Waterways Operators, Mark managed the Southern Region, partnering with the Coast Guard and industry leaders to ensure safe and efficient operations on the Mississippi River and Gulf Intracoastal Waterway. He also served on the Lower Mississippi Waterway Safety Advisory Committee, the Louisiana Supply Chain Transportation Council, and co-chaired the Mid-America Regional Quality Steering Committee.
As Vice President of the American Arbitration Association, Mark managed Louisiana’s post-Katrina mediation program, successfully overseeing more than 17,000 mediations between devastated homeowners and insurance companies.
Infrastructure
As Chairman of the House Transportation Committee, Mark did what he said he would do: ensure infrastructure dollars are spent where they are needed most. For Mark's constituents, that has meant securing funding for necessary infrastructure improvement projects in their communities.
Education
Education is the most important investment families can make in their children’s lives and we can ensure as a state. It’s important that parents and local communities have as much control over education as possible. In the State House, Mark has worked hard to pass school choice legislation and to protect children in our schools.
Sanctity of Life
Mark believes strongly in the right to life. In addition to protecting the rights of the unborn, Mark is committed to helping young women who are faced with unexpected pregnancies get through their challenging circumstances. Further, as a husband and a father of five, Mark believes that family is the core of our society and that we must do whatever it takes to keep the family unit strong. His conservative voting record has earned him a 100% Pro-Life rating by the Louisiana Right to Life as well as the Family Advocate Award from the Louisiana Family Forum.
Gun Rights
“The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” Mark believes strongly that these powerful words in the United States Constitution describe a right that must be protected. His pro-Second Amendment voting record has earned Mark the endorsement of the NRA.
